Elio was one of the greatest drivers in F1, a tenaciously spirited and gifted driver,
the likes of such a gift witnessed in contemporaries such as Depailler, Villeneuve and Senna.
He is missed, and not forgotten.
For me, his loss, as well as the afore mentioned three have severely diminished my own personal passion in this sport in years since. |

Elio was my cousin, I met him during a visit he and his brother made to America when we were all young.
They stayed with my grandparents and I remember playing bocci ball and swimming with them.
All my friends wanted to meet my handsome cousins from Italy. I wish I had gotten to know him better, and now he's gone and only his memory lives on.
I am glad to see he is remembered though and am learning much from doing research on him.
I hope when I finally get to Italy to trace my roots I can meet my cousins again and share stories of him. |

I used to have a picture on the wall before my desk in which Elio was touching the railing with the Lotus rear right wheel in Montecarlo.
Those times when Nigel Mansell was the second man at Lotus...

erano bei tempi..gli anni '80!eravamo tutti giovani e pieni di voglia di vivere.
