Johnny Cecotto eventually recorded the 26th time, the last spot on the grid. The 1983 Italian GP would be his latest showing with the Theodore team. Having failed to bring new sponsors to his struggling team, Cecotto did not take part in the 2 last races of the 1983 season.

A touching gesture by Elio was to dedicate his first pole position at the 1983 European GP to Colin Chapman:
